The Prison Ministry is a fulfilment of the scripture in James
whereby it is written to 'be doers of the Word, and not hearers
only, deceiving your very selves... Pure 'religion' and undefiled
before God is to visit the fatherless… in their distress,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world.'
In
a ministry like the prison ministry, it is very necessary
1) to have a pure burden for the lost and 2) remain close
to Jesus, for in this most intense of ministries those being
ministered to can spot insincere testimonies and ridicule
them very quickly!
Thankfully those going to minister to the (mainly) youths
in prison all are fuelled by Jesus' desire to reach those
for whom he died on the cross, and it is received as such
by those who are keen to listen to our message of hope in
Christ wherever we go to minister.
Recent visits have been to Chelmsford Young Offenders Institution
whereby the format was to do a 'mini-concert' followed by
preaching and an altar call for salvation.

The prison chaplain is always excited by our visits, as they
are very pertinent and relevant to the youngsters behind bars
who always show a positive response towards Christ during
our time there. We are also seeking to go into other prisons
so please pray for God's favour to enable us to minister to
those who are held captive by the consequence of sin.
Please pray 1) for those ministering 2) for the atmosphere
and anointing in these prisons to permit the message of Jesus
to pierce hearts 3) for the souls already won to Christ through
this ministry, that they will be able to follow through on
their commitments to Christ.
